Joyeux Noël

Here we are in France for our first Christmas outside the UK. We have a family ‘tradition’ of going for a walk on Christmas day and this is something we will continue to do as a reconnection with the natural world outside the material world.

The last few days were very foggy with a few brighter spells, but today, Christmas day, was blue skies and sunshine. Our walk was along a favoured route up towards Lac Montbel, there were three of us on our walk as our eldest daughter has now joined us here. There are still flowers and insects out and about, even a lizard was spotted sunning itself. I managed to get a couple of shots of two species of Hoverflies, a favourite subject of mine in the UK. A subject that I will work further with next year here in France to see what new species I can find that are not in my UK ID book and then use that to justify a new book!

The wonders of technology will allow us to talk to our youngest daughter and see her via the internet and that will complete us for this Christmas.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone we know a very merry and rewarding christmas and hope that you have your family all around you at this time. To everyone we do not know at this time reading this I also wish you the same and hope that we may get to know you one day.
